Hello how menny on this board like the eve dallas books by jd robb or aka nora roberts. just wondering
I started reading In Death several years ago. I love the books, and though I really can't afford to get all of them on Audible, one of my goals is to get all of them in commercial audio one day. They make me laugh, Eve is a brilliant character, and I like the futuristic aspect. That said...
As the series progresses, you can really tell that these are written by Nora Roberts. The same descriptions, the harkening back to the heart-warming family junk. The sweet cliché's woven throughout the latter part of the series. Snore fest. If I wanted to read happy sappy family drama, I would pick up an NR book. I'm missing some of the awesome tech we've gotten in previous books. I want to read a future story, not a vaguely time set romantic comedy.
My viewpoint is also biased by some of what I've seen on NR's Facebook page. Protp: don't go on there and suggest off the cuff, "Hey, it would be cool if you wrote a book about Backster and Trueheart getting together in a relationship" because she hates suggestions. There's no polite thanks but no thanks, she really gets pissed and annoyed. "I write the books; you read them. Don't tell me how to do it." I can respect that she's tired of suggestions, but man, her comments, and those of her moderator, really come off as snotty and rude.
But I digress. I still look out for the new books and devour them hungrily, because I've fallen in love with the characters. I just wish it wasn't so lovey dovey lately.
I've read almost all of the In Death books, and really enjoyed them.
I love the series and love the way Eve has developed from a tight assed, no nonsense cop with no real ability for empathy to a fully fleshed out human with feelings and the ability to make friends, fall deeply in love, and even have empathy for family members of the victims. I also love the way Roarke has helped her get through the memories of her horrific childhood of abuse which is a big part of her overall personality changes. One thing that Nora Robert does well is show her characters growing and changing.
I enjoy the eve dallas books a lot.
to the person who said she doesn't show much empathey for the families you couldn't be more wrong oh okay she doesn't show it as much as peabody but its still there. Oh okay another question for those of you that have red the series who isthe bad guy that you think was the wurst bad guy or what ever? I'll give my answer when i can see what other people have put up.
I didn't say she doesn't show empathy, I said she didn't in the beginning, but she has changed over time. I think she felt it in the beginning but just didn't feel comfortable showing emotions.
As far as the worst bad guy? I guess it would have to be from the book Origins in Death. To tell the truth I don't remember all the details since it's been a long time since I read that one, but I'm pretty sure it's the one that involved killing babies.
ya that was bad but casandra was bad too i mean a bomb really doesn't dascriminate Hope you didn't take the reply about eve as i was mad at you did you? I hope not. I like Mavis she's really cool.
No, I didn't take it that you were mad at me, I just wanted to make myself clear that I see how Eve has changed throughout the series.
I looooove loooove loooove the in death series!
I have read all of the books, and I think Nora Roberts needs to allow Eve to
become more human, and more real to what a child who had that kind of
childhood would really be like when they are interacting with others.
For the last poster, I think she has allowed Eve to develop a lot over the course of the series. Eve with the help of Roarke, has changed and evolved a lot from the woman she was in the first book.
How menny people on this board have red the latest book? I have its really good. Its called devoted in death
i wish they'd talk more about areana ball do you think that's the in deaths virsion of the nfl?
I agree with the person that talked about growing as a person. You got to remember in the first book she was just developing as a person. and she didn't have really any one except mavis and the job
I've read all of these books that bard has, which is a lot of them, except for the titles that don't have in death in them. Like sweet 606, etc. I love the way it's set in the future and how blunt dallas is. I have even found myself re-reading a few of them that I don't remember the details.
took me 2 and a half years but I've finally read them all lol. love them a lot. favorite series I think. the characters have grown and evolved nicely
ya there a good series taking a brake i have echos in death i just started it. but i'll finish it at some point. out of all the books who was the killer who you disliked the most? that's one hard but I'd have to say maqween was bad and so was casandra
I love love love them!
